The distributer that buys your film will pay for that.
Trying to learn, I am working on a movie to put in the movie houses. I just need a few tips! Like what is the cost to take Video and then have it put on 35 mmm. What is a good Video,A lab. Some good Books to Read !

Between 40 and 60 thousand American.
But don't let that worry you. You seem like a serious filmmaker. Anyway, making movies for theatrical distribution is very easy. You're already shooting on video (which any monkee can do). Just ask some friends to act, have realistic looking muzzle flashes (that's important, don't ya know) and you'll be all set.

Great!
I spent a good few weeks putting effective muzzle flashes in my movie. That means its in with a chance in the big time!
Thanks for the encouragement.
I'm trying to become rich and famous. Do any of you know an easy way to do this besides marrying some rich old hag? I really think this is going to work out for me. After all, I do know how to press the record button on my XL-1.

Wow. When did everyone become such assholes?
Captulita, if you are shooting on a consumer or prosumer DV camera, it probably isn't in your best interests to blow it up to 35mm. It can be done, for $50,000 or so US as Fish Lips said, but that is usually paid for by distributors should they choose to buy your movie. If you are thinking instead of trying to screen your movie on a small scale, but still publically at an actual theatre, then that usually runs around $500-$1000 a night to rent the space and pay for the staff of the theatre to tear tickets and alike. It varies a lot by theatre, and most non-chain theatres are more likely to accommodate. You would have to submit your film for rating, that costs around a $1 per minute, and is usually valid for anywhere in your province or state. Good luck on your project.
